November shopping in Toronto – preparing for Christmas

November is that time of the year when the weathers starts to cool down but it is still warm enough to hang out outdoors as well, although nobody will blame you if you choose an indoor event over the outdoor fun. At this time usually all the events are about the seasonal holidays.

Everybody starts to write their Christmas shopping list and tries to find the best gifts for their loved ones. This year you can visit Toronto and shop at the winter fairs, enjoy the Santa Claus Parade, taste some nice wine at the Wine Expo and buy your friends and family a Christmas gift at the Toronto Christmas Market.

The Santa Claus Parade

On the 17th of November at Christie Pits the Santa Clause Parade sets off. Children and adults are all welcome to witness a 100 year old Torontonian tradition. Santa Clause comes to town to put smiles on the faces of everyone around. The parade was first organized in 1905 when Santa Clause walked down from Union Station all the way to Eaton Center for the first time. Today the parade consists of 25 themed floats, 100 celebrity clowns, 22 bands, hundreds of volunteers and Santa himself. This year the parade starts at 12.30, go by the Rom and end at St. Lawrence Market.

Gourmet Food and Wine Expo

At the Metro Toronto Convention Center you can attend the Gourmet Food and Wine Expo which is held from the 15th to the 17th of November. Entrance costs $40 on Thursday evening and $20 on the weekend. Come and taste the finest foods and wines of the world. Try new tastes enhance your gastronomic experience. Vintage wine and anything you like will be available in the booths which feature products from countries around the world. The foods are prepared by the best chefs who use unique and special ingredients and will probably give you new ideas for your evening meals.

Toronto Christmas Market

This year the Toronto Christmas Market will open its doors on the 29th of November at the Distillery Historic District. Join the crowd and let yourself be taken over by the Christmas spirit as you wander around the market looking at the crafts and souvenirs. Look around and you might find something special for your family members. There is going to be family friendly entertainment and lots of shopping.

All inspired by the Christmas Markets representing the European style. Stop and listen to the musical performers and carolers, take a ride on the Ferris Wheel and pay a visit to Santa and his reindeer.
